Minami Shuzo, founded in 1868 in Kunisaki, began as a sake kura, restarted with rice shochu after the war, and found its fame in the fifth generation with the barley shochu Toppai — mellow, clean and well loved. Today two sisters keep the family house, refusing mass production; an old-fashioned candy shop shares the grounds.
