Since 1866 — 日出町, Oita
Nikaido Shuzo, founded in 1866 and now in its eighth generation, changed shochu history: it established barley-koji production in 1951, perfected an all-barley shochu in 1973 and launched it in 1974 — igniting the Oita mugi shochu boom. A 1979 agriculture ministry award crowned the achievement, and the Nikaido Art Museum stands beside the kura, brewing under the words of a heart that remembers home.
