Miyasato Shuzosho, founded in 1946, named its awamori Harusame — spring rain — for hope and heaven's blessing. For some twenty years it sold only in bulk to other houses, never at retail, earning the name the phantom awamori; third-generation Toru Miyasato brought it back to shops in 1997. Aged koji gives its famously delicate touch.
