Yanbaru Shuzo began in 1950 as the Takazato Shuzosho, funded by the villagers of Ogimi's Takazato district, taking its present name in 2017. About seventy percent of its Maruta is drunk right there in the community — and the distillery is the northernmost on Okinawa's main island that welcomes visitors.
