Ibusuki Shuzo was formed in 1987 when five long-standing local breweries merged. It distils honkaku imo shochu from Koganesengan potatoes and the waters of Lake Ikeda — Kyushu's largest lake — under its Riemon labels, named in the tradition of Maeda Riemon, who is honoured for bringing the sweet potato to Japan.
