Kirishimacho Distillery, founded in 1911 at the foot of the Kirishima range, brews traditional Kagoshima shochu in clay pots — its cheerfully named Akarui Noson (Bright Farming Village) leads the range, with red-potato and roasted purple-potato versions beside it. ISO 9001 certified since 2013, the kura is open to visitors year-round (9:00–17:00).
