Bishonen began brewing in 1752 on the orders of Hosokawa Shigekata, lord of Kumamoto, and restarted in Kikuchi in 2013 after a business transfer. Known nationally for its sake, the house also distils the Kuro Aso and Aka Aso shochus from the blessings of the Aso caldera.
