Hananoka Shuzo began in 1902 when Kakuji and Mosaku Kanda took over sacred paddies of the Myoken shrine, brewing as Kanda Shuzo until the 1992 renaming. Nationally celebrated for its sake Hananoka and Ubusuna, the house also distils the rice shochu Wani, on rock-spring water rising at the shrine.
