Toyonaga Shuzo was founded in 1894 in Yunomae by Tsurumatsu Toyonaga. Fourth-generation head Shiro Toyonaga brews to a strict local creed — Kuma rice, Kuma water, Kuma people — with organic Kuma rice from the house's own fields at the centre of its Toyonaga Kura label. Gold medals at the Los Angeles International Spirits Competition have helped carry it to twelve countries.
