Genkai Shuzo, founded in 1900, is the flag-carrier of GI Iki barley shochu, heir to the island's five-hundred-year tradition. Its Mugi Shochu Iki won Monde Selection honours eleven years running from 2002, crowned by the Crystal Prestige Trophy in 2011; the Super Gold editions rest in white-oak casks.
