Muhyo Shuzo, established around 1990 on the Sotome hills of Nagasaki, brews clay-pot imo and barley shochu. Its barley shochu — from Isahaya-grown Nishinohoshi — took three stars at the International Taste Institute three years running, a Crystal award in 2019 and the Diamond taste award in 2024, with red- and purple-potato companions in its series.
